Entrepreneurship Challenges and Opportunities

Entrepreneurship is the process of identifying challenges in the society, taking risks to develop solutions to identified challenges, invesing passion, skills and resources to develop products and services that provide value to people; and taking advantage of people to scale significance and wealth.

Entrepreneurs take risks to make our world a better place. Entrepreneurs should be supported and encouraged to play their roles in providing things of value to people.

Products and services that people apply to enhance life are developed by entrepreneurs. Our world look up to entrepreneurs to provide solutions to all challenges that militate against man and environment.

There are numerous challenges in our world. Some of these challenges have been identified and highlighted by the  Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs] The SDG listed 17 global goals to be achieved by the global community by year 2030.

17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s)

1.   No poverty

2.   Zero Hunger

3.   Good health and well-being

4.   Quality education

5.   Gender equality

6.   Clean water and sanitation

7.   Affordable and clean energy

8.   Descent work and economic growth

9.   Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

10.   Reduced inequalities

11.   Sustainable cities and qualities

12.   Responsible consumption and production

13.   Climate action

14.   Life below water

15.   Life on land

16.   Peace, Justice and Strong institution

17.   Partnership for Goals

The 17 SDG are integrated, and they recognize that “action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability”.

“The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people  enjoy peace and prosperity.” www.undp.orgsustainable-development-goals.

The SDG’s principles uphold that the creativity, know-how, technology and financial resources from all of society is necessary to achieve the SDG in every context.

Governments alone cannot achieve  the Global goals. The contribution and inputs of all of society are needed. The inputs of entrepreneurs are needed in particular.
